Decided to try 240hz with AS enabled and low and behold flickering started, about every minute my monitor would flash a blue icon indicating DP and blink out for a second and come back on. I just got an odyssey neo g9 and can't get rid of the screen flicker. I get the G7 27-inch and for the first day I kept it with adaptive sync (AS) on at around 120 to 144hz, no issues. I even tried to buy a new VESA certified DP cable and that did not help. Again, the flickering is nowhere near as bad as what I saw online, so I do believe the newer-made models are better. Still, this doesn't fix the issue and I like to use some of these overlays.

For some reason, if I use the steam overlay, or especially the Nvidia GeForce Experience, the flickering is worse. I tried many different settings and the only thing that slightly helped was making sure I turn off any type of overlay. But based on how many people have this issue I don't know if it'll make a difference. Someone on another forum suggested getting a vesa certified display port cable. Although turning off g sync works, I bought this monitor as a g sync compatible monitor because I enjoy a tear-free experience, so I will not be turning off g sync. I refuse to turn on VRR Control because I am able to notice the stutter that it causes. I am an owner of a 32' Samsung Odyssey G7 and it has many major issues like 1) Flickering when Adaptive Sync on 2) Horizontal scanlines on blue-orange wallpapers and especially in this site my monitor is full with scanlines 3) Screen turning on and off when HDR on. To eliminate the flicker, you can either turn on VRR control mode in the monitor settings or turn G sync Off. It annoys me that a $700 monitor does this. I do notice a SLIGHT flicker during certain times of gameplay but only when I am actively looking for it. Not the biggest hassle in the world, but it's confusing as a newcomer to this feature.Well my friends, I received the G7 for a few days now and I am quite disappointed. Basically, I have to keep switching adaptive sync on or off depending on what I'm using the monitor for. It's outside of the game, in the menus, where shit gets annoying.

Because when I use it in-game, the experience is clearly better, and works as intended.
